AfriForum Youth is considering legal action after Sasco put up a poster at the Cape Town and Bellville campuses of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, which again serves as confirmation of the brewing hatred within ANC-affiliated organisations against international and white students.
Among others, the poster refers to white students as ‘white pigs’ and states that they must leave the country. The ANC-affiliated organisation, Sasco, also refers to international students as ‘cockroaches’ in the poster.
‘Sasco is an extremist organisation which is emphasising a new era of racism in South Africa. The trend of racist and xenophobic statements is on the increase at university level, and Sasco is proactively trying to stifle minority groups in South Africa,’ Charl Oberholzer, AfriForum Youth’s national chairman, said.
AfriForum Youth today submitted a request to Sasco president, Ngoako Selamolela, to arrange a closed meeting at which the recent statements can be discussed.
‘Sasco’s statements offend the dignity of minority students,’ Oberholzer said.
Based on the outcome of the discussions with Sasco, AfriForum Youth will consider legal steps to also obtain clarity on who could be held liable for such statements.
